Police say speed and alcohol are factors in a Saturday night crash in Lisbon that left a Bowdoin man critically injured.

Lisbon Police Department was called to a crash at the intersection of Ridge and Gould roads at 11:27 p.m. Saturday, according to Lisbon Police Sgt. Harry Moore. When officers arrived they found a badly damaged gold 2007 Honda Element which had gone off the road into some trees. 

A passenger, Erica McIver, 43, of Bowdoin, was wearing a seat belt and had managed to get out of the car and crawl to the roadside. The unbelted driver, Frederick Field, 52, also of Bowdoin, was trapped in the car had had to be extricated by Lisbon Fire Department personnel. 

Police say Field was critically injured. A LifeFlight helicopter landed at Lisbon High School. LifeFlight medical crew joined ambulance personnel at the landing zone and Field was transported by ground to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston where he is listed in critical condition with severe head injuries.

McIver was transported to CMMC with minor injuries.

Speed and alcohol are factors in the crash which remains under investigation by Lisbon Police Department officers Shawn Kelly, Andrew Levesque and Jason St. Pierre. LifeFlight, Auburn Rescue, United Ambulance, Lisbon Emergency, Lisbon Fire and Androscoggin Sheriff’s Department all assisted at the scene. Several trees had to be cut in order to remove the car.
