WISCASSET
Sheepscot Valley Chorus is inviting interested singers to sing with them as they begin rehearsals for their spring semester on Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Wiscasset. The Chorus will be preparing music of English composer Benjamin Britten, including “Te Deum in C” and “Rejoice in the Lamb.” The chorus will also explore songs of the seaside and springtime.
Performances are on April 9 at 7 p.m. and April 10 at 3 p.m. in Newcastle. Continuing their tradition of supporting local youth, the program also will highlight the talents of three high school students, recipients of the annual Sheepscot Valley Chorus Music Scholarships.
Sheepscot Valley Chorus has been singing in Midcoast Maine for over 35 years, and is led by director Linda Blanchard and accompanist Sean Fleming, both of Damariscotta. Recent concerts include last season’s acclaimed performances of Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Vivaldi’s Gloria. For more information, visit www.sheepscotvalleychorus.org or call Linda Blanchard at (207) 380-2768.
