BRUNSWICK — Local artist and community art activist Catherine Worthington has donated a piece of textile art for a raffle to benefit Brunswick’s Arts Are Elementary program. Raffle tickets are available through Arts are Elementary representatives, online at rafflecreator.com and will be sold at both of the previews for the 10×10 Benefit Art Exhibit and Sale — held 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 24 and noon to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 — and at the event itself 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25. Proceeds from the raffle will go directly to the Arts Are Elementary program that provides artist- in- residence opportunities for Brunswick elementary students. The drawing will take place at the St. Paul’s Parish Hall at approximately 8 p.m. on the night of the 10×10 Event. The winner need not be present to win. Tickets are $10 each. We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
