MOSCOW (AP) — Russian investigators say lightning has killed a construction worker in Moscow.
Russian news agencies today quoted investigation spokeswoman Yulia Ivanova as saying that the man was stuck by lightning in a park in the west of the city earlier today and died on the spot. The man is believed to be a construction worker who was hiding from heavy rain in the park.
A thunderstorm in Moscow this morning partially flooded several Moscow streets with 300 emergency workers dispatched to pump out the water. A third of the month’s average rainfall is expected in Moscow today and Tuesday.
