Boredom Beaters at the Library
• Attend free movies this summer in the Gray Public Library’s cool new “theater.” Now showing: Saturday, July 18 at 1 p.m., “Goonies” (PG); Tuesday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m., “Ex-Machina” (R); Thursday, July 23 at 10:30 a.m., “Bark Ranger” (PG); Thursday, July 23 at 2 p.m., “Sound of Music” (G) and Saturday, July 25 at 1 p.m., “Sandlot” (PG).
• Beekeeping Basics, on Wednesday, July 22, at 6:30 p.m., Mark Cooper, of Coopers Royal Heritage Farm in Windham, will be discussing beginner’s beekeeping techniques and how you can get started.
• An album listening event will be held on Thursday, July 23, at 6:30 p.m., featuring Roger Water’s “Amused to Death.” This is a concept album, released in 1992, and the third studio album by former Pink Floyd bassist and songwriter Roger Waters.“Amused to Death” will be played in its entirety using a Blu-Ray Pure Audio disc (which provides sound quality matching the studio master tapes), remastered in surround sound, and played on the library’s amazing sound system.
•Summer reading with this year’s theme of: Every Hero Has a Story. Some upcoming Summer Reading events: Friday, July 24, at 11 a.m., PuppeTree will perform The Ugly Duckling, Friday, July 31, at 10:30 a.m., Sarah Sparks from UMaine Extension will be here to show how to make eco-bots. You must pre-register for this event. Limit of 25 participants.

45th Year
G-NG Class of 1970 Reunion is Saturday, Aug. 22, at 534 New Gloucester Road, North Yarmouth. The reunion starts at 2 p.m., the grill is hot at 5:30 p.m., and the pool is open. Bring your own adult beverage and something to cook on the grill. RSVP by Aug. 17, to Mark 829-5940 or Sheila 522-9747.
Summer Lunch
A free summer lunch will be available for all kids and teens 18 and under through Aug. 21. It will be served Monday through Friday at the following locations/dates:
• Gray-New Gloucester High School, through Aug. 21, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
• Liberty Family Foundation, 23 North Raymond Road, through Aug. 21, 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
Meals will be served 11:30 a.m.-noon Mondays-Thursdays through Aug. 20 at Russell Elementary School, 8 Gray Park.

Yard Sale

Grab a blanket or your favorite lawn chair and join your friends and neighbors for an evening under the stars with a movie at the Pennell Ballfield, 24 Main St., Gray. Before each movie starts at dusk there will be a special activity or event that will be fun for the whole family. There will also be movie snacks and cold beverages available for purchase each night. On Wednesday, July 29, “Tomorrowland” (PG), will be shown. On Wednesday, Aug. 12, “Interstellar” (PG-13) will be on the big screen.

Wildlife Encounters, Chainsaw Artists and Farmer’s Market
On Saturday, July 18, at 11 a.m., come to the Maine Wildlife Park, Route 26 in Gray for a program entitled Wildlife Encounters. Join wildlife experts and professional educators with their living menagerie of exotic wildlife related to Maine Wildlife Park residents. See and photograph wildlife like a serval cat, crested porcupine, Arctic fox, indigo snake, alligator snapping turtle, giant bullfrog or Egyptian fruit bat; all while learning how they are connected to Maine’s resident wildlife.
On the following Saturday, July 25, at 11 a.m., see Maine Chainsaw Carvers Ron Carlson, Tim Pickett, and Andrew Logan as they use chainsaws to create eagles, bears and more. Watch a block of wood become a work of art.
Meanwhile on Thursday, July 30, from 5-8 p.m., there will be a Farmers Market and Open House. Local farmers and food vendors will be at the wildlife park to sell their foods and products. Admission will be free so visitors can stroll around the park on a pleasant summer evening, while supporting our local farmers.
