Pablo Picasso said, “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.” If you would like some help washing off that boring dust, visit Art in the Park on Saturday, July 18. Bridgton’s Shorey Park on Main Street will be filled with fine artists and artisans selling original paintings, pottery, jewelry, wood work, fiber arts, photography and much more.
The one-day village of tents will be buzzing with activity as crowds of art lovers and curious tourists spend a few hours looking at the fabulous art, eating food provided by St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and listening to live music by Brad Hooper, A Bunch of Old Hippies and Skylark Ensemble. Local nonprofit organizations such as Deertrees Theatre, Lakeside Garden Club and the Rufus Porter Museum will also have booths.
Always a highlight of the Bridgton area’s summer season, Art in the Park will be open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 18 (rain date July 19.) Prizes will be awarded in two-dimensional art, three-dimensional art and photography. In addition to providing a culturally enriching event for the town of Bridgton, Art in the Park raises funds to support Gallery 302 and the Bridgton Art Guild.
