BOWDOINHAM — The Baseball Performance Academy Eagles recently opened their home slate of the 15-and-under NEAAUY baseball league with a split of a doubleheader with the Unlimited Tigers of Waltham, Mass.
Played at the new baseball field, the Eagles, made up of Mt. Ararat High School freshmen players, fell in the opener, 2-1, before rallying for a 5-2 win in the nightcap.
In the first game, Ryan Glass pitched well in defeat. He went the distance, throwing 96 pitches, 62 for strikes, with three strikeouts. Glass allowed five hits, walked one and hit a batter.
The Eagles scored their lone run when Cole Kelly walked with the bases loaded to score Nate Leslie.
Sam Alexander doubled for the Eagles.
William Shea went 6 2-3 innings on the mound for the Tigers, with 10 strikeouts and two walks. Neal Melley picked up the save.
In game two, Garrett Moody picked up the mound win, striking out three, walking four and permitting four walks.
Nick Merrill singled and douled, with Alexander and Leslie adding a double each. Kyle Brennan, Kelly, Liam Huston, Kaileb Hawkes and Glass each singled.
Melley took the loss for the Tigers. He went three innings with five walks and two strikeouts.
