BRUNSWICK — “The Colors on the Leaves,” a new show by the Spindleworks Ensemble, will debut at 7 p.m. tonight and Saturday, June 13, at The Theater Project. Six Spindleworks actors will collaborate on stage with two actors from The Theater.

Diane and Earl Black, Kim Christensen, Anna McDougal, Nancy Scott and Lloyd Whitcomb from Spindleworks and Don Weatherbee and Al Miller from The Theater Project have been working on “The Color on the Leaves” since September. Miller has been working with Spindleworks since its inception almost forty years ago, and Weatherbee and Miller have been working with the ensemble for several years.

“One of the advantages of working with an ensemble over the years, with any ensemble, is that the members learn a common vocabulary, learn to trust each other to take chances together and discover a collective creativity,” Miller said.

“That’s what’s happened with this ensemble,” Weatherbee added.

When the ensemble began working together in the fall, there was a period of getting acquainted again, after a summer without meeting.

“We began with familiar improvisational exercises and then we experimented with ideas, some from our ensemble members from Spindleworks, some from Don or me,” Miller said. By January, they had chosen some of the pieces they wanted to include and began focusing on them while still experimenting with other ideas.

Tickets are available online anytime at www.theaterproject.com, or by calling the box office at 729-8584. The Theater Project is located at 14 School Street in Brunswick.
