BATH — On May 28, from 7-8:30 p.m., the Mustard Seed Book Store located at 74 Front St. in downtown Bath will host author Marsha Hinton in a workshop on “How to Build a Book.”
Hinton, a ghostwriter, who also freelances for local newspapers and magazines, has authored two novels under her own name and is currently working on her third using this simple method.
“When I was first challenged to write a work of fiction, I had no idea how to do it. I could write non-fiction all day. Coming up with a viable idea and carrying it through the length of a novel was a different story,” she said. After reading everything she could get her hands on regarding writing fiction, she uncovered a blueprint for novels.
“There are lots of books out there on writing that are excellent. There aren’t very many that talk about the necessary foundations for a novel or non-fiction work. This isn’t some arcane knowledge. You don’t need to depend on a muse to guide you. Writing a book is a process that can be duplicated. I’ve done it. So can you,” Hinton said.
