WESTBROOK — Owen Kelly scored the winning goal for the Mt. Ararat High School jayvee boys lacrosse team in a “Braveheart” victory over Westbrook High School, 8-7, on Friday.
With the game tied at seven, both sides sent out one field player each and respective goalies as the alternative form of a tie-breaker instead of a two-minute overtime.
Kelly’s winning goal marked his fourth in the game, scoring three unassisted tallies in regulation. Andrew Waltz scored two goals, receiving help on one of them by Sawyer Watson. Max Bodmer tossed in two goals of his own.
Parker Lacy and Leon Perrault shared time in net, with Lacy turning away five shots and Perrault collecting three saves.
