BOWDOIN
A Bowdoin man was killed after his dump truck rolled over him as he worked on the truck’s transmission at his home Monday afternoon.
At 5:48 p.m. on Monday, the Sagadahoc County Communications Center “received a call of a dead person, laying under a dump truck in the driveway, at 526 West Burrough Road in Bowdoin,” states a press release issued by the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies from the sheriff’s office, officers from Lisbon Police Department and Bowdoin Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the scene.
A passerby walking by the residence reportedly noticed the situation and went over to investigate. Seeing that someone was pinned underneath the dump truck he called 911.
When police and rescue personnel arrived, they determined that Alcide Castonguay, 65 of 526 West Burrough Road, was deceased. The sheriff’s office says Castonguay had a conversation with a neighbor at around 1 p.m. Monday before returning to work on the transmission of his dump truck.
At some point between 1 p.m. and 5:48 p.m., while working alone underneath the dump truck it rolled on top of Castonguay, crushing him.
