ROCKLAND — The second of a month-long series of Fireside Poetry Readings at Rockland Public Library will take place at 3 p.m. April 8. The week features students from Oceanside High School sharing poems they have written, or favorite poems written by others. Beverages and treats will be provided by the Friends of the Library.
Poetry Month at the Rockland Public Library continues with Rockland’s Poet Laureate Carol Bachofner speaking on the poetry of war, the poetry of peace and the poetry of protest at Rockland Public Library at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 9. Poems of these three fascinating categories and spanning WWI to the present will be shared. There will be a question and answer period following the presentation. This talk is a part of Rockland Public Library’s Poetry Month celebration.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
