The Town Office, at Mallett Hall, is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday 8:30 a.m.-6:30 and closed Friday.

Selectmen will meet Monday, March 9 and 23, at 7 p.m., in Mallett Hall.

Beans, spaghetti to be served

The North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, Pownal, will hold a public baked bean and spaghetti supper on Saturday, March 28, from 4:30-6 p.m. On the menu five kinds of beans, spaghetti with meat sauce, potato salad, cole slaw, biscuits and brown bread, pickled beets and assorted homemade pies. Tickets are adults $8, children 4-12 years $3, and free for kids under 3. The church is handicapped accessible. For more information, call Kim at 865-3517.

French music and dancing March 15

An evening of French and French-Canadian music and dance, with Nouveau Chapeau and Marie Wendt, will be held Sunday, March 15, at the Pownal Town Hall, 429 Hallowell Road. Community folk dancing, featuring French and French Canadian dances, is 4:30-6 p.m., with music provided by Nouveau Chapeau (Steve Gruverman, Gary Chapin, Margaret Cox, Eric Johnson and Barb Truex). All dances are taught. No partners are needed.

Potluck refreshments and music jam for those interested begin at 6 p.m. A French dance workshop taught by Marie Wendt, with music by Nouveau Chapeau, starts at 7, to be followed at 8 by requests, review and dances from around the world (live and recorded music).

The cost for first-timers is free. Suggested donation: Family dance $3 per person; whole evening, adults $8, children $3, family $15.

at Fuego Diablo

Fuego Diablo, 52 Loring Lane, has rescheduled its next music night to March 14, in recognition of International Pi Day. Pi is a mathematical symbol, and March 14, 2015, can be written out 3.14.15, the first five digits of the value of pi. The music night’s menu will all be based on pies – meat pies, veggies pies, American pies, etc. Those who have a deft hand at making pies, especially for dessert pies, are welcome to contribute one.

Performers of all ages and abilities are invited to take the stage at this intimate acoustic venue. A sign-up sheet is available and spontaneous collaborations are encouraged. Conservation Trust

Royal River Conservation Trust will hold its fifth Pisgah Hill Preserve March Full Moon Trek Friday evening, March 6, with bonfire and more, in New Gloucester, hosted by Terry DeWan and Nancy Wines-DeWan. With new trails, new kiosks and improved bridges on an expanded preserve, this trek gets improves every year. For more information, see www.rrct.org.

Coffee mug sales

Freeport High School Project Graduation is selling Dunkin’ Donuts Community Mugs. Those who buy a coffee mug for $20 can bring it into any neighborhood Dunkin’ Donuts in Maine and Coos and Carroll counties in New Hampshire and receive a free hot or iced coffee each Sunday. Food pantry on Wednesdays

The North Pownal United Methodist Church food Pantry on 851 Lawrence Road is now open every Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The pantry never knows from week to week what it will be getting. If any farmers or others would like to donate to the pantry, contact the Rev. Ray St. Pierre, 837-0682, or Deb Larrabee, 240-1637. The pantry helps those in need and welcomes everyone.

The First Parish Church of Pownal hosts a men’s breakfast the first Saturday of each month at 7:30 a.m., open to any men who want to come. The Rev. John Wentworth leads the discussions.

Church services

North Pownal United Methodist Church worship service is Sunday at 9 a.m. Sunday School for children and adults is at 10:30 am. All are welcome. The Rev. Raymond St. Pierre is pastor.
