BRUNSWICK — The College Guild has recently selected Pat Friedman as its new administrator.

Located on Harpswell Drive, The College Guild is the only nationwide provider of free non-traditional education courses to people who are incarcerated — regardless of gender, race, religion, crime, sentence or security level. The College Guild’s 25 courses are designed to be both thought provoking and fun.

More than 5,000 students have enrolled during College Guild’s 14-year history. The nonprofit program has become so popular that there is currently a waiting list of 385 potential students.

Friedman is a certified educator with a background in marketing communications. She is also a published journalist with several hundred articles having appeared in a variety of national and regional magazines and newspapers, including The Times Record, Portland Magazine, The Harpswell Anchor, Boothbay Register and Coastal Journal.

“I am humbled and thrilled by the chance to help continue the mission and great work accomplished by College Guild and its force of 100 talented volunteers,” Friedman said. “It’s a perfect fit.”
