BRUNSWICK — Many Maine high schools, including Brunswick, Mt. Ararat, Morse and Freeport, are offering the SAT on Wednesday, April 15, which is a school day. The test is paid for by the state and is for high school juniors only.

This is good news for Maine juniors. This means that they can opt for the Maine April SAT or the nationwide May 2 SAT or, what is even better, both.

To help students, Maine Prep has redesigned its spring courses to include a bonus ninth session at no additional charge which will benefit those who plan to take the April SAT, the May SAT, or both.

The extra session will allow Maine Prep to complete its entire eight-session course before the April 15 administration and then in the week prior to the May 2 SAT provide one extra session that will feature a full SAT with answers and explanations and a two-hour review.

Maine Prep’s spring SAT classes to prepare Brunswick area students for the April and/or May SAT begin Feb. 22 and meet every Sunday, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Maine Prep offices, 22 Parkers Way, Brunswick.

Maine juniors who take both tests will have a distinct admissions advantage especially when applying to college Early Decision. This gives them a chance to improve SAT scores and gives them time to complete all required subject tests before the November senior year Early Decision deadline.
