BATH — Cartoonist and professional illustrator Vance Bessey will offer a cartooning demonstration and workshop for teens at Patten Free Library today, Friday, December 12 at 3:30 p.m. The workshop is free, open to teenagers (seventh grade to 12th grades), and will be held in the Library’s Community Room. No pre-registration is required.
“This workshop will be a sampler of the full-length course that I am currently offering at the Gamebox in the Topsham Fair Mall,” says Bessey, “I have made a living illustrating comics, children’s books, animations, and comic strips, but my great love is teaching the skills, knowledge and tricks of the trade to up-and-coming new cartoonists and illustrators.”
Mr. Bessey will share some of his work and demonstrate techniques such as form, light, shadow, proportion, inking, and character design. Participants are encouraged to bring samples of their own work, if available. The workshop is open to beginners as well as more advanced students. Light refreshments will be served.
