MACHIAS — First-year guard Lyse Henshaw of Brunswick scored a game-high 12 points in a team-high 25 minutes of playing time as the Bates College women’s basketball team coasted to an 80-32 victory at the University of Maine Machias on Monday night.
The Bobcats (4-2) return home to host the University of Southern Maine today at 5:30 p.m.. The host Clippers dropped to 1-5.
Bates grabbed a 45-14 halftime lead, holding Machias to 25- percent shooting while making 46.2-percent from the field. The Bobcats outrebounded the Clippers 21-11 in the period.
Henshaw scored eight of her points in the second half, including two 3-pointers, as she and nine other reserves, all new to the team this season, gained valuable playing experience.
