Rep. Matthew W. Moonen easily defended his seat representing District 38 in Portland. Moonen, a Democrat, picked up 2,290 votes to defeat Republican Thomas Joseph Loring, who had 391 votes.

Moonen, 30, is a campaign consultant who ran for re-election.

The district includes part of Portland.
