BATH — ArtVan is turning 10 years old, and will celebrate with a local restaurant fundraiser in the town where the program is active, Bath, Brunswick, and Lewiston/Auburn. ArtVan is a mobile art therapy organization whose mission is to provide a safe place for children and others to express themselves creatively. Restaurants in the communities will sponsor special items during the month of October. Every time a customer orders the special, a percentage of the proceeds will go to ArtVan to support its work.
The following restaurants will be participating in the event: In Brunswick, Big Top Deli, Broadway Deli, Enoteca Athena, Frontier Cafe, Henry and Marty’s, Local Market, and Orange Leaf Yogurt. In Bath, Byrnes Irish Pub, Dot’s Ice Cream, JR Maxwell’s, Kennebec Tavern, Mae’s Cafe, and Solo Bistro. In Lewiston, Baxter Brewing Company, She Doesn’t Like Guthrie’s, and Simone’s Hot Dog Stand.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
