TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat Middle School eighth-grade Eagles finished 2-0 on the week, leaving them unbeaten on the season at 4-0.

On Wednesday, Mt. Ararat traveled across the bridge to Brunswick to play the Dragons under the lights.

Both teams had solid chances at the net with several shots deflecting off the posts, but it was the Eagles who took the 1-0 victory, which came with 10 minutes remaining in the contest.

Hayden Libby delivered a ball into the crease off a corner kick, with Max Spelke following through with a header to collect the gamewinning goal. Aidan Woods and Thomas Davison were top performers in the game for Mt. Ararat. Sean Roberts received his second consecutive shutout in net.

Mt. Ararat hosted Lewiston on Monday and grabbed another 1-0 win in a hardfought battle.

Both teams were wellmatched, but the Eagles defense proved to be the star of the game. Libby, Alex Bryant, Connor Girouard, Will San Pedros, Davison and Jax Hollenbach held off the Blue Demons in its offensive zone, while Roberts stopped numerous shots in the first half to keep it scoreless.

The Eagles only goal came in the second half when Woods buried a penalty shot.

Spelke, Ryley Gilson, Kody Noyes and Will Kavanaugh were noted for strong play in the contest.
