Denise Tepler and I met working together on a committee urging the local government to adopt the Cool Communities initiative. Our committee was successful in convincing Topsham to commit to practices that reduce carbon emissions over a period of years thus becoming a “green” community. It was so valuable having Denise on our committee, as she was and is a wealth of information about how government runs, she is fair and even tempered, and she is passionate about her community and its resources.
Since that time I have come to deeply respect Denise’s unfailing commitment to serving the community, through Big Brothers Big Sisters, United Way, Sagadahoc Democrats, Emerge Maine and the Topsham school board. Denise is a huge supporter of local farmers and the local food movement, a champion for middle class families, an experienced and committed advocate for strengthening our public schools, and a supporter of investing in small businesses and job growth. Topsham couldn’t ask for a better representative. I will be voting for Denise Tepler this November, I hope you will join me!

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
