The Robbie Foundation is holding its second annual 5K Run, Walk, Wheels and Kids Fun Run on Saturday, Sept. 13.
Registration runs from 6:45-8:25 a.m., and the race gets underway at 8:30. The fun run will take place at Back Cove in Portland. Registration, start and finish happen at Payson Park. Participants and children in wheelchairs and other adaptive equipment are welcome to participate.
There will be free hot air balloon rides from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Starting at 9 a.m., there will be a host of other activities, including an awards presentation and balloon twisting and Portland Pie pizza.
The Robbie Foundation provides adaptive equipment, therapy treatments and other services not covered by insurance to children with special needs and youth in Maine. In the past 3 1/2 years, the foundation has donated nearly $100,000 in items to children across the state of Maine.
