Community Concepts has announced the expansion of its volunteer driver program to Sagadahoc, Lincoln and Knox counties, and the towns of Brunswick and Harpswell.

Now the organization seeks volunteer drivers.

“We know there is a need for more transportation resources in the Midcoast region and we are excited by the opportunity to respond to that need”, said Sara Trafton, transportation developer for Community Concepts. “Sagadahoc, Lincoln, and Knox are challenging counties to provide transportation services to. Developing a volunteer driver program in this area will bring new resources and help alleviate some of the problems that are faced every day by people who lack transportation.”

Community Concepts has been providing transportation services to residents of Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties for more than three decades and has received numerous awards and recognition for excellence over the years.

Utilizing a pool of welltrained volunteers, Community Concepts provides thousands of rides every year, including people with disabilities, the elderly, and children. The Volunteer Driver Program provides vital access for people who have no other way to get to the critical services they need, including health care, therapeutic and rehabilitative programs, education and developmental services, work training and access to employment.

People with a desire to help others and a good driving record can call 712-3712 or email strafton@communityconcepts.org. Visit Community Concepts online at community concepts.org.
