PORTLAND — Portland Sea Dogs second baseman Sean Coyle has been named the Eastern League Player of the Month for June.
In 26 games, Coyle hit .348 with six home runs and 22 RBIs. He tied for the league lead in total bases (60) and extra-base hits (15) during the month.
Coyle also finished the month ranked among the league leaders in slugging percentage (second), on-base percentage (third), runs scored (third), homers (third), RBIs (third), walks (fifth), hits (fifth), doubles (seventh) and batting average (eighth). He hit safely in 21 of the 26 games in June including 10 straight from June 6-17.
Coyle is the second Sea Dogs player to earn Eastern League Player of the Month honors this season, joining Mookie Betts, who earned the honor for April.
