FALMOUTH — The inaugural Southern Maine Golf Scramble, to benefit the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame, is scheduled to be held July 21 at the Falmouth Country Club, beginning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
The event is sponsored by the Goodwin Motor Group.
The Hall of Fame is looking for boy and girls basketball programs from various schools throughout Southern Maine to sign up.
The fee for the five-players team is $ 625, which includes two carts and an awards luncheon following the play.
The event is also seeking hole sponsors, possibly two from each participating community at $200 a hole.
“With a little effort we can raise a substantial fund for the MBHOP, which has non-profit status,” said organizer Tom Maines.
It is hoped that 30 teams will sign up on a first- come, first- served basis.
Checks may be payable to Tom Maines, 2 Nancy Drive, Brunswick, ME, 04011.
Registration deadline is June 10 and volunteers are needed to spot and work on certain holes.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
