Free skin cancer screenings are being offered to area residents who meet certain criteria ”“ the underinsured or uninsured.
Appointments will be made between 6-8 p.m. on the following dates: Tuesday, May 13 at Mercy Oncology-Hematology Center, Fore River Medical Building, 195 Fore River Parkway, Suite 360, Portland; Thursday, May 15 at the Cancer Care Center of York County, 27 Industrial Ave., Sanford; Monday, May 19 at Southern Maine Health Care, 13 Industrial Park Road, Saco; and Wednesday, May 21 at Maine Medical Center Cancer Institute, 100 Campus Drive, Suite 121, Scarborough.
Space is limited, and patients who have never been screened by a dermatologist will be given priority. Interpreter service is available.
People are advised to attend this screening if: over age 60, do not have a regular dermatologist and do not have insurance or are under-insured. This screening is a must if you have freckles, sunburn easily or have a family history of skin cancer. Get a thorough visual exam from a qualified health professional along with useful prevention tips.
