Lindsay Sterling, left, and Sheila Towne hold up platters in the Freeport Community Services kitchen, where they were prepping last Saturday night for the White Nights, Freeport Community Services’ biggest fundraiser of the year – and a celebration of the organization’s 40th anniversary. Sterling and Towne arrived shortly after noon, and worked well into the evening. Betsy Peters and Lindsey Norton, co-chairwomen of the event, together with a big group of volunteers, spent two days preparing. There was food, live entertainment and silent auction. FCS provides food, fuel assistance, camp scholarships and more to residents of Freeport and Pownal.
Adults and youngsters alike “turn the circle inside out” during the community folk dance held on Sunday, Jan. 19, at the Pownal Town Hall. There was a family dance, followed by refreshments and then international folk dancing.
