TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat High school jayvee boys basketball team defeated Mt. Blue 51-47 and lost to Lewiston 50-45 in recent action.
Against Mt. Blue, the Eagles led 13-12 after one quarter, trailed 24-21 at the half, and led 37-35 after three.
Zach Garvey led the way with 17 points and six rebounds, while Cam Cox had 13 points and Harper Mutal 10. Cole Guerin also had three assists and four steals.
At the foul line, Mt. Ararat was 19 of 29 and Mt. Blue seven of 11.
Evan Backus had 18 points in the losing effort.
Against Lewiston, Mt. Ararat trailed 12-6 after one, led 29-26 at the half and 39-35 heading into the final period.
Liam Brannigan and Mutal split 22 points evenly while Garvey had 10 caroms and Mutal seven. Cox also chipped in with three assists and four steals and Dante Dangerfield stood out defensively.
At the line, the Eagles were 10 of 21 and Lewiston seven of 18.
Abdinasir Issaachle had 16 points and Tylon Meyers 13 for the Blue Devils.
