WEST BATH — The town’s move to withdraw from Regional School Unit 1 will likely come to a vote Jan. 21, 2014.
Selectmen are expected to set the exact date at their Nov. 25. meeting, Town Administrator Jonathan Davis said.
Earlier this year, citizens circulated petitions that gained 127 signatures — aboiut two dozen more than the number required .
The town also is suing RSU 1 to recoup nearly $2 million in cost-sharing fees it says it is owed under a prior cost-sharing formula.
If residents approve withdrawal, there would be a second vote necessary on whatever whithdrawal process is agreed to between the town and RSU 1.
Meanwhile, West Bath is suing RSU 1 to recover $1.9 million the town believes it overpaid in the first four years of the school district’s existence.
