TOPSHAM

Thursday marked the payoff moment for a Topsham retirement community and its gift to a neighbor.

The Highlands presented a $20,000 check in March to Williams-Cone Elementary School to fix up the playground.

Thursday, that contribution came to fruition with a ceremony in the gym followed by plenty of play on the refurbished playground.

Taking part in the event were students, Williams- Cone and School Administrative District 75 staff, residents of The Highlands and the community’s owner and developer, John Wasileski.

“We also used the donation to purchase 30 sets of snowshoes, and to purchase a playground cart which houses equipment such as balls, hula hoops and more,” Williams-Cone Principal Randa C. Rineer said.
