April Caron has joined the American Red Cross of Maine as its new executive director.
Caron comes to the Red Cross from United Way o f Androscoggin County, where she worked as director of develop- ment.
In addition to eng a ging the Midcoast in Red Cross programs, Caron will work with business and community leaders to increase their efforts to prepare for disasters, the organization said in a news release.
“While Red Cross may be best known for aiding those affected by a disaster — such as a fire or flood — we also help people and organizations in our communities prepare for the unexpected,” Caron said.
The Mid-coast region covers Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc and Waldo counties, as well as the towns of Brunswick and Harpswell. The American Red Cross supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood, provides international humanitarian aid, supports military members and families, and more.
