BRUNSWICK — Local caregiver, Nicolette (Nikki) Rollins, received a Celebrating Excellence in Caregiving award in the Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA) category from the Maine Health Care Association. She and other award recipients were honored at a MHCA luncheon held in Augusta in late September.

Rollins’ manager, Heather Raubeson, R.N., clinical care coordinator for Bodwell Rehabilitation Unit at Mid Coast Senior Health Center, submitted the nomination citing the tremendous positive impact that Rollins has had on patients, families and staff.

“She is known at Mid Coast Senior Health Center for her sense of humor, dependability, and extraordinary patient care, delivered with patience and compassion,” said Raubeson.

“We are an extra set of eyes for the nurse,” said Rollins. “You have to be really observant to notice any changes about a patient’s status, such as a slight change in their breathing or a bruise on their skin. You also need to be very confident and positive in order to make patients feel at ease.”
