Joshua MacDonald, 29, formerly of Bowdoinham, is now a transient, said Sgt. Dale Hamilton today. MacDonald, a clam digger, was last known to be in Wiscasset and is believed to still be in the area.
Hamilton obtained a warrant Friday for MacDonald’s arrest for the Class C charge of unauthorized taking or transfer, punishable by up to five years incarceration and a $5,000 fine. The charge was bumped from a misdemeanor up to a felony charge because MacDonald has five prior theft-related convictions in Maine, Hamilton said.
Hamilton said MacDonald is accused of stealing a credit card on Oct. 1 from a close relative in Bowdoinham. He allegedly went into the residence while the relative was outside and stole a debit card from her purse. The card was subsequently used at Ainslie’s Market in Gardiner.
