BATH — At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, the Morse High School Debate Team will conduct an exhibition debate to argue the best future for the high school facility.
The resolution is “Resolved: Morse High School should be demolished and be replaced with a new building rather than be renovated.”
Two of the state’s premier student debaters will address the topic.
David Rice, a Morse junior who placed second in the junior varsity ranks at last year’s state Lincoln-Douglas debate tournament, will take the affirmative side of the resolution.
Facing Rice on the negative side will be Kyle Hietala, a Morse senior and the returning varsity Lincoln- Douglas debate state champion.
The exhibition will occur in the Montgomery Theatre in Morse High School, 826 High St. The public is invited to attend.
Donations will be accepted at the door to help defray travel costs and registration fees for the Morse High School Debate Team for the 2013-14 season.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
