BRUNSWICK — Anna Cowan scored a pair of goals as the Brunswick High School girls soccer team rolled to a 5-0 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Lewiston on Thursday.

The Dragons (6-3), winners of four straight, visit Hampden Academy on Saturday, while the Blue Devils fell to 0-8-1.

Emily Black, Lyse Henshaw and Madeline Cowan added a goal each, with an assist going to Madeline Cowan, Anna Cowan and Henshaw.

Brunswick netminder Haley Murano and Lewiston keeper Ally Frecette each turned away six shots.

“Haley Murano played great in goal, and I thought Lena Martin, Caley Nicholson, Kassidy Scarponi and Madeline Cowan were superb,” said Martyn Davison.”

MT. ARARAT GIRLS7

Seven players scored one goal each as the host Eagles improved to 8-1 with an easy win over the 0-9 Indians at Topsham.

Erin Tome, Katie Labbay, Allison Melcher, Libby Ouellette, Sierra Gilley, Libby Davis and Torri Pelletier found the back of the net, and goaltender Kate Guerin picked up the shutout.

Mt. Ararat is scheduled to host Lewiston on Tuesday.

RICHMOND 3

The first matchup between these East-West Conference rivals was a 3-2 nail-bitter, with Buckfield battling back from a 3-0 second-half deficit.

This time, there was no comeback as Richmond (7-1) jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead and played strong defense in the second half.

Chika Obi, Amber Loon and Kelsea Anair, assisted by Camryn Hurley, scored for the Bobcats, and netminder Kelsie Obi had three saves for the shutout.

BUCKFIELD BOYS 0
RICHMOND 4

Nate Tribbett scored two goals, and Brandon Emmons and Bailey Johansen each scored one to lift the Bobcats in EWC play.

Sam Lorbeski, Cody Tribbett and Cameron Emmons each added an assist for Richmond (5-2-1 and slated to visit Vinalhaven on Saturday), which outshot the Bucks, 34-4.

Dustin Sullivan made four stops in goal for the Bobcats, and Sean Bernier, Tyler Soucy, Curtis Anderson and Marcus Blake stood out defensively.

Justin Pierce scored three goals as the visiting Eagles rolled in KVAC play.

Mt. Ararat, 6-2-1 and slated to host Lawrence on Saturday at 6 p.m., received three assists from Jimmy Pelletier. Adding one goal each were Robbie Small, Joe Thomas, Shy Ulrickson and Andrew McCracken.
