BOWDOINHAM — Firefighters responded to the report of a vehicle on fire near on Route 138 in Bowdoinham this morning near the park and ride lot near the Interstate 295 interchange.
Bowdoinham Fire Chief Arthur Frizzle said the vehicle was in motion at the time the fire broke out. When firefighters arrived, the vehicle was fully involved. Crews initially had challenges with the water supply, Frizzle said, but were able to bring the fire under control with the help of mutual aid from neighboring fire departments. Bowdoin and Richmond fire departments were also called to the vehicle fire, reported shortly before 8 a.m.
According to Frizzle, the occupant of the vehicle was not injured and no firefighters sustained any injury extinguishing the blaze. The vehicle was is a total loss.
A pickup truck caught fire and was destroyed by flames on the I-295 on ramp in Topsham Monday at around 12:30 p.m., causing fire crews to close the ramp. The driver of the truck was not injured.
