To the Editor:
There has been alot in the news lately about bear hunting.
I am an avid hunter. I would never shoot one. But what is so wrong about this is there is big money from away trying to change Maine’s hunting tradition.
They don’t have a clue, not doing their homework. Maine has the largest bear population in the Lower 48. Our biologists are experts.
When New Jersey stopped bear hunting in 1971, complaints went from 100 to as many as 2,500. Then they resumed the hunt in 2003.
My thought on this is everyone who can vote on this must have a Maine hunting license. They are informed, not the tree huggers.
We should start a petition about being licensed to vote on issues like this.
