TOPSHAM — Monica Wood, acclaimed Maine author of “When We Were the Kennedys: A Memoir from Mexico, Maine”, “Any Bitter Thing” and “Ernie’s Ark” will visit Topsham Public Library for a talk and book signing Sept. 4.
Monica was born in Mexico, Maine, where her father was an employee of the Oxford paper mill during its boom time. “When We Were the Kennedys” recounts the fallout of her dependable father’s unexpected, early death and how her family survived such a blow.
Funny and moving, this memoir has achieved many accolades including the 2012 May Sarton Memoir Award for best memoir by a U.S. or Canadian woman, and the 2013 Maine Literary Award for memoir. It also featured on Oprah Magazine’s summer reading list.
