TOPSHAM — Brunswick George T. Files American Legion Post 20 will hold a veterans’ recognition program at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Topsham Legion Post 202, 79 Foreside Road.
Veterans from World War II to the present will be honored for their service. Korean War veterans will receive a special certificate to recognize their service during the Korean War to mark the 60th anniversary of the armistice that ended the fighting in 1953.
Colonel Peter Ogden, Director of the Maine Bureau of Veterans Services, will present the certificates and medals to 30 local veterans and Post 20 officials will present local families with a Blue Star Service banner to honor loved ones who serve on active duty and in the Reserves and National Guard.
