The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has charged two inmates at the Two Bridges Regional Jail with trafficking in prison contraband and one of the inmates with assault.
These charges stem from an investigation into an assault that took place at Two Bridges Regional Jail on the weekend of Aug. 4, between two inmates. The injured inmate received cuts on his face and the top of his head, police said. These injuries did not require hospitalization.
Tyler McFarland, 32, of Gray is charged with assault.
Further investigation discovered that McFarland and Mark Johnson, 31, of Bath were smuggling Suboxone, a narcotic, into the jail, police said. The two men were then bartering and selling the Suboxone to other inmates in the cellblock, according to the poliuce report.
The assault was not connected to the smuggling operation.
McFarland is charged with trafficking in prison contraband and assault.
Johnson faces charges of rafficking in prison contraband.
The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be forthcoming.
