BRUNSWICK

A local woman was hurt in an apparent hit-and-run accident Tuesday on Stanwood Street, prompting police to ask for the public’s help locating the suspect vehicle.

River Road resident Dianna Smith, 54, was riding her bicycle against the flow of traffic on Stanwood Street at 10:50 a.m. when she was struck by “a white box truck-type vehicle,” Brunswick police Lt. Tom Garrepy said.

Smith was admitted to Mid Coast Hospital with a leg injury and was listed today in good condition.

“We’re looking for anyone who was in the area at the time and who might have witnessed the incident,” Garrepy said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Patrick Mahar at 725-5521.

The accident report, the 436th of the year, was one of a several recent accidents on town roads, including several rollovers. But Garrepy said Brunswick’s accident rate is down about 40 percent from a decade ago.
