LISBON — Nomination papers become available Wednesday for three seats on the Town Council, two on the School Committee and another on the Water Commission — all three-year terms.
Available on the Town Council are an at-large seat currently held by Fern Larochelle, a District 1 seat held by Gina Mason and a District 2 seat held by Roger Bickford.
Traci Austin and George Caron serve on the School Committee and both have terms expiring this year. Water Commissioner Bill Bauer’s three-year term will expire, as well.
Any voter can sign any nomination paper for an “at large” position. However, for council district seats, only voters who reside in that district may sign nomination papers for those positions.
Candidates are required to obtain at least 50 and no more than 75 signatures from qualified voters in Lisbon to be eligible to have their names placed on the ballot.
Nomination papers must be filed before 4:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23 at the town clerk’s office.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
