LISBON — The town was holding a ribbon cutting ceremony today at the Lisbon Public Library, where the new Lisbon Career Development Center is located downstairs, adjacent to the children’s room.
The project — funded by a $20,000 Community Development Block Grant — is intended to address increasing demand by the library’s patrons for technical assistance relating to online job searches, online job application submittal and development of resumes and cover letters. Lisbon Town Manager Steve Eldridge said, “this is a great opportunity for the citizens of Lisbon to work on their career development skills.”
Lisbon was able to purchase computers for the center and to hire Kristine Mattei as consultant to facilitate the program. Mattei comes with more than 15 years of experience in training, work force development and recruiting on a national scale.
“We are very excited to have someone with Kristine’s expertise to facilitate this program, she will be a great asset to the center,” says Diane Nadeau, the library director.
Starting Tuesday, the Lisbon Career Development Center will be open Tuesdays from 3 to 7 p.m. and Thursdays 1 to 5 p.m. For more information, call 353-6564.
