LISBON — The driver and passenger of a motorcycle ejected from a motorcycle that stopped quickly on Route 196 Saturday afternoon were taken to Lewiston hospital with complaints of pain and road rash.

The crash, which occurred near Big Dipper Ice Cream on Route 196, was reported to police at 12:58 p.m., according to Lisbon police Sgt. Harry Moore. A vehicle ahead of a motorcycle operated by Bruce Jollymore, 60, of Lisbon, stopped and by the time Jollymore reacted and hit the brakes, the motorcycle was too close and it appears the rear wheel locked up, Moore said, causing Jollymore to lose control of the motorcycle and lay it down.

Jollymore was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with complaints of pain to the head, face, right arm and ankle. A passenger, Joyce Morin, 55, of Lisbon, complained of road rash to her back and was also taken to CMMC. Moore said he believes Jollymore and Morin were not wearing helmets. Jollymore was discharged, a hospital spokesperson said this morning, and Morin was not listed as a patient.

No charges were filed. The crash was investigated by Officer Jeff Picard.
