BOWDOINHAM — Stephen Klatt and Ben Nelson each hit a home run in an eight-run third inning as Gorham advanced to the 12U Cal Ripken State Tournament championship game with a 13-2 victory over Lisbon on Monday.

Gorham faces host Ararat today at 3:30 p.m. If Gorham wins, the teams will meet again at 5:30 p.m.

Lisbon jumped on top 2-0 in the opening frame. Deven Hannan had an RBI single, scoring Noah Austin, who had singled to open the inning.

That was all Lisbon mustered against Gorham pitcher Brogan McDonald, who walked one, hit two batters and struck out eight.

Leading 3-2, Gorham used a two-run home run by Klatt and a grand-slam home run by Nelson to take an 11-2 lead.

Lucas Francis and Cole Bolduc pitched for Lisbon, combining on three strikeouts.

Lisbon opened with a victory as Francis singled and homered, Nick Austin chipped in with two singles and Bolduc smacked a first-inning home run to help stake the hosts to a 3-0 lead.

Francis scored two runs, and Austin, Bolduc, DJ Douglass and Cameron Brown-Walton each scored a run.

Bolduc went the distance with 13 strikeouts, four walks and three hits allowed.

In second-round play on Saturday, Lisbon managed just two hits — both by Nick Austin — in falling to Gorham. Austin also scored the lone run in the first inning.

Lisbon hurlers Francis and Breanna Staples combined on five strikeouts and a walk.

In the eight-hit Gorham effort, Kyle King had a home run, double and single, Nelson a homer, McDonald a double and single, Klatt a double and Travis Gray a double.

Gorham scored four times in the third to go up 5-1.

In loser’s bracket action on Sunday, Lisbon stayed alive as Noah Austin, Douglass and Levi Levesque each scored a run in the third inning.

Nick Austin, Douglass and Levesque each singled.

Brown-Walton and Bolduc pitched for Lisbon with six strikeouts and three walks.

Ryan Rousseau and Michael LaSelva each scored a run in the loss for Marshwood.

Also on Sunday, Lisbon stayed alive by scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run home run by Francis.

Noah Austin led the way with a single, double and home run, while Nick Austin had three singles, Bolduc two singles and Hannan a double.

Douglass took the mound with five strikeouts and nine walks.

Logan Porter paced the loss with a home run, double and single, while Casey Bourque had three singles and Luke Steven a double.

Ararat won all three games played to advance to the championship round.

SKOWHEGAN 1

Ararat opened on Saturday, as hitting star Liam Huston homered, doubled, singled and scored two runs. Hunter Lohr and Nick Merrill had a single each, and Ryan Mello two singles and a run.

Cam Grant pitched, with eight strikeouts and no walks. He gave up three hits.

Skowhegan pitchers Alex Higgins and Colby Esty combined on 10 strikeouts and two walks.

Also on Saturday, Ararat prevailed by scoring three runs in the fifth and two each in the first, second and fourth.

Merrill had the big bat, going 4-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored.

Huston had a home run, single and two runs, Mello two hits and two runs, Kelly two hits and a run, and Rogers, Austin Damon and Dakota Lopez a single each.

Merrill and Rogers combined on a five-hitter with six strikeouts and two walks.

ARARAT 7

GORHAM 4

In a battle of the only unbeaten teams, Ararat scored four runs in the first inning on its way to the victory and a berth in the championship round.

Merrill and Mello each homered and singled, while Lohr chipped in with two singles and three runs, Grant two singles and Huston a single.

Grant went the distance and scattered three hits, with nine strikeouts and two walks.

McDonald homered and singled, and King had a roundtripper for Gorham. King went the distance with eight strikeouts and two walks.
