Freeport High School’s Riley Werner and Benjamin Proctor of Mt. Ararat High School are the 2013 recipients of Freeport Players Scholarships.
The scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors who participated in Freeport Players productions or made a commitment to theater at Freeport High School.
Werner joined Freeport Players as a middle school student in 2006, when he played the spider in “Who Pushed Humpty Dumpty?” He subsequently was cast in, or worked on, numerous productions including “South Pacific,” “Smoke and Mirrors” and the Freeport Middle
School production of “Disney’s Little Mermaid Jr.”
Proctor joined the cast of “The Pirates of Penzance” in 2011 and “The Mikado” in 2012 and performed with New England Regional Theater Company and others.
