BATH
With balmy summer evenings in the offing — hopefully — the venerable Bath Municipal Band begins its summer concert series at 7 tonight at the scenic gazebo in Library Park.
The Bath Municipal Band, under the direction of Kathy Downing, will play its music — mostly swing — every Tuesday night at various locations.
The Bath Band and other ensembles will play in the Gazebo Series, which begins its 13th season. The Merrymeeting Community Band and the Italian Heritage Community Band of Portland also will perform.
Downing, who plays bass guitar, said that the Gazebo Series, which begins at 7, has become a popular attraction.
“The Gazebo Series is very popular; people come from all over,” she said. “This gives the public a consistent time to know when the bands are playing.”
