FALMOUTH — Falmouth High School scored four runs in the third and sixth in the fifth en route to a 10-5 Western Maine Conference baseball win over Freeport on Tuesday.
The visiting Falcons dipped to 6-7 and are scheduled to visit Yarmouth today and Poland on Friday.
Dan Burke pitched into the sixth and was relieved by James Purdy and Connor Dietrich. They combined on seven strikeouts and four walks.
“Dan Burke pitched very well for us although the score doesn’t show it,” said Freeport coach Hank Ogilby. “In that sixth-run fifth inning we made three errors. It was a competitive game until that point.”
Connor Murphy went the distance for Falmouth and gave up eight hits and four walks with six strikeouts.
In the Freeport offense, Purdy, Cole Harrison and Nick Cartmell had two hits each.
For Falmouth, Thomas Fortier and Connor Aube had three hits each, and Andrew Emple and Luke Velas two hits each.

In KVAC action Tuesday, the host Dragons improved to 4-10 and visit Lewiston today.
John Parker went six innings and gave up two hits with five walks and 10 strikeouts, while Brady Larson relieved with no walks and a strikeout in the seventh
In the Brunswick attack, Cam Heatley had two hits and two RBIs, Adam Casey a single, triple and two RBIs, Parker Wild a single, double and two RBIs, Larson a hit, two walks and an RBI, Brett Lancaster a hit and Charlie Lowell and Derek Devereaux a walk and RBI each.
Brunswick had its best inning of the year scoring seven runs in the third.
