TOPSHAM

Topsham police are looking for the operator of a car that drove across a lawn, struck a house then left the scene Sunday night.

Topsham Police Chief Christopher Lewis said Officer

Michael Carter was called Sunday to Tamarack Circle at 9:50 p.m. for a report of a vehicle with squealing tires.

The car “apparently went off the roadway, failed to negotiate a corner and drove over the lawn and struck the front of the house,” Lewis said.

The house sustained damage from the impact, though he didn’t know how bad the damage was. No one was home at the house when the crash occurred.

Lewis said police are looking for a dark-colored sports car seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed with no headlights on. The vehicle should have front end damage and missing an inner plastic wheel well, Lewis said. It also may have undermounted running lights along the side of the vehicle.

Anyone with any information related to the incident should call Topsham Police Department at 725-4337.
