VFW POST 2197 of Topsham swore in its new officers during a recent ceremony. The oath of office was administered by District Commander Tom Rainey. Pictured from left are Judge Advocate Bob Lemont, Chaplain Henry Haley, Quarter Master Roger Stevens Jr., Vice Cmdr. Al Bourque Sr., Vice Cmdr. Lin Stevens, and Cmdr. Frank Leavitt. Some of the post’s projects and supported nonprofits include the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program and the Tedford Shelter, Topsham Youth Soccer and Baseball, Homeless Veterans and scholarship candidates for the Voice of Democracy program. Some of the post’s fundraisers are breakfast for the Bath Iron Works Pipe Shop and Electric Shop, Friday night suppers at the American Legion in Topsham and buddy poppy sales in the spring and fall seasons. The next poppy sale will be on May 18 at Shaw’s in Brunswick. Regular meetings are held at the American Legion, Post 202 in Topsham, at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month.
